Of the more than 600 covered bridges known to have been built in Indiana, only 90 are still standing. Help us protect & preserve Indiana's historic covered bridges!

Indiana Covered Bridge Society, Inc., is a non-profit corporation organized in 1963 out of a need to arouse interest in the preservation of historic covered bridges.

One of the perks of membership to the Indiana Covered Bridge Society is receiving our quarterly newsletter. It's full of photos, information, and updates on our beautiful covered bridges.

You don't have to be a member to help us in our goal of preserving and protecting Indiana's historic covered bridges.

Longwood Covered Bridge in Fayette County undergoing much needed rehabilitation

The Longwood Covered Bridge in Fayette County is receiving a much needed rehabbed this year.  It is undergoing a complete removal of all siding and inspection of all truss members.  This is a much needed rehab and it will be like new once done in 2023.  All truss members are being examined for rot and will be replaced if found.  As you can see in the photos, the bridge has been lifted up so that the arches can be fixed.  Three of the four ends will need to be replaced.  I want to thank the Fayette County Parks Department and the town of Connersville for fully finding the rehabilitation of the bridge. The Society visited the Longwood bridge in the Fall of 2022 to see the progress being made.  Please note: you can visit the bridge, but it is behind fencing and it is not accessible to the public at this time.  Photo by Andy Rebman, October 15, 2022.
