Longwood Covered Bridge in Fayette County undergoing much needed rehabilitation

The Longwood Covered Bridge in Fayette County is receiving a much needed rehabbed this year.  It is undergoing a complete removal of all siding and inspection of all truss members.  This is a much needed rehab and it will be like new once done in 2023.  All truss members are being examined for rot and will be replaced if found.  As you can see in the photos, the bridge has been lifted up so that the arches can be fixed.  Three of the four ends will need to be replaced.  I want to thank the Fayette County Parks Department and the town of Connersville for fully finding the rehabilitation of the bridge. The Society visited the Longwood bridge in the Fall of 2022 to see the progress being made.  Please note: you can visit the bridge, but it is behind fencing and it is not accessible to the public at this time.  Photo by Andy Rebman, October 15, 2022.
